How am i supposed to know what would injure another person's conscience - the WT religion is not like one anchor tied to my feet but a thousand anchors all over me while I was just trying to LIVE

by Cold Steel inokay, what happens when a congregation member, a relatively new convert, approaches an elder and says, "hey, jim.
just wanted to let you know that i'm going to have to leave today's meeting as soon as it breaks....".
"really," says jim.

Private meetings banned??
by franticfran ini have just spoken to a brother who is part of a group of single brothers and sisters who meet together once a week to discuss bible topics and he has been told by and elder that the organisation "banned" these private meetings years ago.
i told him i remember that article but he is adamant that the society would never do that (!
) now i am fairly sure i remember that article whether it was in a km or one of the mags i cant recall but i am sure i remember them saying we needed nothing more than the food that the slave class provided (another means to control us),does anyone have the details of that article because i have said i will find it and let him have it.

Nobody would think we lived in a free country, hearing that.

classification of Jehovahs Witness members by when they joined up
by besty injust got to thinking how long can the watchtower peddle the 'soon' story with any credibility?.
i would say there are the oldtimer or born ins in the 70+ age group - they possibly remember the 2nd world war, and maybe joined for 1975 or made life affecting decisions meaning they are so commited with 'nowhere else to go' that they have surrendered to the resurrection hope.. then you have the '1986 international year of peace, the 1914+70 year' generation crowd.
people in their 40s and 50s now.

Simon, your description of who falls for the bull-oney fits me to a T. Uneducated, friendless, weird and didn't fit in anywhere with anyone. The one day I answered the door and invited them in, after avoiding for over a year, they were SO NICE and interested in my life. If anyone had tried to tell me ttatt (nobody did) I would have sworn they were nuts.

Totally correct statement: ...Jehovah's people are receiving AMPLE instruction...
Yes. I received it AMPLY, I am amply full to the brim with ample instruction so I don't have room for even just one more thing from those jerks.

Yes Jeffro, those brothers mentioned in C of C said it was their own business, what was discussed at a private dinner and yowza, they were kicked out so fast their heads were spinning. WT thinks all business is THEIR business, LOL!

Everything About Being An Elder is Weird (my misc rambling memories of being an elder)
by AllTimeJeff infor any brother who is a jehovah's witness, the goal is put before them to reach out for the privilege of being an elder.
i can only speak for myself, but being born into the religion, i wanted to be an elder since i was 5. i would have much rather wanted to be a doctor or engineer, but those are the breaks..... i'll skip the part about what it takes to reach out, all the crap you have to put up with as a ministerial servant to get appointed, and go straight to the reality.. i know many elders who sincerely just wanted to be shepherds.
i did want the spotlight.

What could you accomplish if you didn't have to pay income tax? A whole lotta good stuff! Just look at one example, the inspiring land holders called Watch Tower Printing, Estate Grabbing, Crazy-Making Family-Busting, Mind Control Cult Incorporated. They are taking and raking in BILLIONS of tax-free dollars and have been doing so for many years. They build, sell, buy and sue wherever they feel like, with free labor and comparatively low expenses.
Now their newest beautiful complex is going up and will be completed shortly. What benefit are they providing the U.S.A in return for being allowed to escape taxes?!
I would LOVE to keep my taxes and build a beautiful mansion too!
This seems like a huge key to bringing an end to this incredible farce of a religion.

Well if they don't want anyone to do exhausting research into things that are futile and unprofitable, then it's time for some awesome jammin' and pickin' & grinnin' which is hugely profitable, just not to the WT.

Totally right on - we joined in the 80s and talked to many older ones from earlier times, who would talk if you got them going, about how things "were different" when they first joined, but now the "young ones" who are running things, are bringing in lots of changes. Changes that would have got people df'd in those earlier decades.
People who got us involved talked a lot about 1975 being a great time of testing and proving who was really faithful, and who was just selfishly trying to save their own neck from the big A.
